In any relationship, entrenched behaviors and communication patterns can get in the way of connection and lead to unnecessary conflict. For many reasons, it is not always easy to identify let alone express our needs to our partners, yet this is often a critical part of feeling fulfilled. As a relationship therapist, I help couples identify these patterns and work on improving communication and enhancing empathy and closeness.

Some of the models I incorporate in couples therapy include Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems, Gottman, and nonviolent communications. I work with couples in various stages of their relationships, including dating, premarital counseling, parenting challenges, contemplating breakups, recovering from infidelity, navigating midlife and/or empty nests, as well as couples exploring or practicing consensual non-monogamy. I work regularly with LGBTQIA and gender expansive couples and practice from a sex-positive perspective.

I have advanced training in couples and family therapy from the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy, where I am currently a staff therapist in the FACTS division. I also have training in divorce mediation from the Ackerman Institute for the Family.
